Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They let the site remember things between pages and visits, such as what is in your basket or whether you have seen a notice. Similar technologies, like local storage and pixels, work in comparable ways, and where we refer to cookies we mean all of these.

We use cookies to keep the shop working, to remember your basket and preferences, to understand how the site is used so we can improve it, and — with your consent — to show you relevant seasonal offers. We set only what is needed for the purpose, and we ask for your consent before setting anything that is not essential.

These cookies are necessary for the site to function. They remember the contents of your basket, keep you signed in during checkout, and help protect against fraud. Without them the shop cannot work properly, so they are always on and do not require your consent. They do not track you for advertising.

Analytics cookies tell us, in aggregate, which pages are visited, how long people stay and where they run into trouble. This helps us decide what to improve. The information is grouped and does not identify you personally. These cookies are set only if you allow them.

Marketing cookies help us show you relevant updates about new collections and bundles, and measure whether those messages are useful. They may be set by advertising partners. We use them only with your consent, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.

The only item Golden Seabird places in your browser is a small record in local storage, saved under the name wh_consent_golden-seabird.com. It lists whether you allowed analytics, preferences and marketing, marks essential as always on, and carries the time you decided. It contains no name, email address or order detail, and it is read only by our own pages.

Each page asks Google Fonts for the Newsreader and Public Sans typefaces. That request sends your IP address and browser details to Google so the font files can be served. We do not add any other third-party script, analytics tag or advertising pixel to our pages today. If we ever do, this page will name it before it is switched on.

The banner and the settings window list four groups: essential, analytics, preferences and marketing. Essential is fixed on. The other three start switched off in the settings window and change only when you tick them and press Save choices, or when you press Accept all. Pressing Essential only records all three as refused.

Data gathered through cookies is used to deliver the features above: keeping the shop usable, measuring its performance and, where allowed, tailoring what we show you. We do not use cookie data to make decisions that have a legal effect on you, and we do not combine it to build a detailed profile beyond what is needed for these purposes.

Some cookies are set by us directly (first-party). Others are set by the services we rely on, such as our analytics and payment providers (third-party). Third-party cookies are governed by those providers' own policies, which we encourage you to read. We choose our providers carefully and limit what they can do with any data.

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain for a set period — from a few days to around a year — so the site can remember you on your next visit. The exact lifetime depends on the cookie's purpose, and you can clear them at any time through your browser.

Where you consent to analytics or marketing cookies, the related data is shared with the providers that supply those services, acting on our instructions. This sharing is limited to what is needed for the service and is covered by our privacy policy. We do not sell cookie data.

When the payment step of an order opens, the payment provider may set its own cookies to complete the transaction and guard against fraud. Those belong to the provider, not to Golden Seabird, and they appear only on the payment pages. They are the kind of cookies that cannot be switched off if you want to pay by card.

The resort shops that stock our gift sets run their own websites and counters. Nothing you choose in our cookie settings is passed to them, and nothing they set reaches us. If you visit one of them, read the cookie notice on their own site.

The Cookie settings button sits in the footer of every page, next to the legal links. Pressing it reopens the settings window where you can change any category. If you clear this site's data in your browser, the stored record disappears, and the banner will ask you again on your next visit.

When you first visit, our cookie banner lets you accept all cookies, reject the non-essential ones or open the settings to choose. You can change your mind whenever you like using the cookie settings control at the bottom of every page. Essential cookies cannot be switched off, as the shop needs them to work.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings, where you can block or delete them. Please note that blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the shop from working, such as the basket or checkout. Each browser handles this differently, so check its help pages for the exact steps.

You may withdraw your consent to non-essential cookies at any time without affecting the lawfulness of what was set beforehand. Simply reopen the cookie settings and turn off the categories you no longer want. We will stop setting those cookies, though ones already stored may need clearing through your browser.

As our shop and the technologies we use change, we may update this cookie policy. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of the page and, where the change is significant, draw it to your attention. Please check back from time to time to stay informed.
